Cullman tornado damage demo to effect traffic

CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) - Reminders of 2011's tornado devastation through Cullman are quickly coming down.

Demolition crews will begin this week bringing down some of the last tornado damaged buildings still left standing near Convent Road and Fourth Avenue.

The demolition is needed now that the state has bought the property to widen parts of Highway 278 from two lanes, to four.

Many neighbors we spoke with say it's about time.

The demolition project is expected to take about thirty days. Traffic will be slow due to debris clean-up.
